BRITS are getting their solar eclipse glasses ready as they prepare to witness the most impressive coverage of the Sun in almost three decades. Eight UK cities are expecting to get an even better view than most, experiencing over 90 per cent coverage. Between 7pm and 7.15pm, Brits in a number of locations may get the chance to see over 90 per cent of the Sun obscured by the moon. The greatest coverage is expected in the South West of England in Devon and Cornwall, according to the Met Office. Elsewhere, regions including Wales, Northern Ireland, and the West of Scotland will experience optimal coverage during the eclipse. The Met Office has shared when the sun will be obscured the most across the UK Credit: Met Office Cardiff will see 93.24 per cent solar coverage, Belfast will see 93.09 per cent, and Inverness will see 90.74 per cent between 7.03pm and 7.13pm tomorrow. In London, Brits can witness 91.41 per cent coverage of the Sun, alongside peak solar obscuration of over 90 per cent in Edinburgh, Newcastle, and Birmingham. Most read in Tech Unluckily for those in the easternmost parts of the UK, the coverage is only expected to be between 88 per cent and 90 per cent, especially in Aberdeenshire, Norfolk and Yorkshire. The eclipse is set to begin from around 6pm in most areas of the UK on Wednesday Alternatively, viewing the solar eclipse through a handmade eclipse viewer or a colander can protect your eyes from Sun damage.
