Man's body is found in garden of £800,000 detached house with thatched roof in 'friendly' village as police probe 'unexplained' death

Published: 09:57 EDT, 16 October 2026 | Updated: 10:10 EDT, 16 October 2026 A man's body has been found in the garden of an £800,000 detached house with a thatched roof.Police rushed to the home in the 'friendly' village of Burton Joyce, in Nottinghamshire, at 7.24pm on Wednesday following the grim discovery.A cordon remained in place today, with multiple emergency vehicles stationed outside the property on Lambley Lane.And a large police presence remains in the otherwise sleepy village. Nottinghamshire Police have since launched an investigation into the death which is being treated as 'unexplained'. The force have stressed that the death is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no risk to the wider community.The man's family have been informed and police said their 'thoughts are with them at this sad time'. Detective Inspector Clare Gibson said: 'We are working to understand the circumstances of this man's death, which is currently being treated as unexplained.
