GettyManchester United take on Leeds United this evening in the next of their pre-season friendlies. This is sligthly different, taking place in Dublin at the famous Croke Park stadium, which is known for its gaelic football. It holds 82,300 at full capacity, and knowing the volume of United fans in Ireland, it could be close to a sell-out crowd for today’s game. Michael Carrick’s men are coming off the back of a 1-1 draw with Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenberg, Sweden. Bryan Mbeumo levelled from the penalty spot against the weakened Champions League winners, who went ahead inside two minutes thanks to Ibrahim Mbaye’s opener. Before that, the Red Devils defeated Atletico Madrid 2-1 and Rosenborg 5-0 to follow their surprise 1-0 defeat by Wrexham, the Championship club, in Helsinki, Finland. There could be returns for several of United’s World Cup stars, including Marcus Rashford, who could well make his first appearance for the club since December 2024, having spent the last season and a half on loan at Aston Villa and Barcelona.
