Manchester United confirm Carlos Baleba signing as midfield spend nears £150m

Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Carlos Baleba from Brighton. The midfielder has signed a contract to 2031, with the option to extend by a year.United are understood to have paid an initial £65m for the 22-year-old, who is the third midfielder to join this summer, after Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos. It takes the club’s spend on the position to about £148m.United had hoped to get the Cameroon international last summer but Brighton wanted about £115m, the amount they received when they sold Moisés Caicedo to Chelsea in 2023.Baleba told United’s website: “It is an incredible feeling to join the club of my dreams.
