Championship clubs have expressed interest in signing the former Brighton academy prospect, who is under contract at United until next year. Collyer has been overtaken by Tyler Fletcher in the United midfield pecking order while the club want to bring in a specialist defensive midfielder. Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans have already arrived to bolster the United midfield and Kobbie Mainoo signed a five-year deal in April. Collyer was included in the last two pre-season tour squads and made his debut in the 2024 Community Shield. Overall, Collyer has played 13 times for United. His fellow academy teammates Dan Gore, Jacob Devaney and Chido Obi also started at Altrincham and all three could be on the move this summer. The trio were involved in the opening friendlies against Wrexham and Rosenborg. Gore and Devaney spent last season on loan at League One Rotherham and Scottish Premiership outfit St Mirren. Gore, 21, will almost certainly leave permanently. Most read in Sport Obi, 18, did not make a single appearance for the first team last season and is likely to head out on loan to avoid the risk of stagnation at reserve level. Gore’s only senior appearance for United was against Crystal Palace in the League Cup in September 2023 while Obi last played for the first team in May 2025. Ethan Wheatley, who is the subject of surprise interest from Everton, was on the bench at Altrincham. Comment now
