Man Utd lure 13-goal wonderkid from Premier League rivals on ‘hefty salary’ after making stunning first-team guarantee

MANCHESTER UNITED have completed the signing of Tynan Thompson from Spurs after promising him that he will be integrated into their first team. United have paid Tottenham £4million up front, with £4m in add-ons dependent on Thompson’s first team achievements. Spurs inserted a 15 per cent sell-on clause. Thompson was named on the bench for Tottenham’s Champions League games against Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund but never debuted for the club. The deal is similar to when United signed Ayden Heaven from Arsenal in the 2025 winter transfer window. Heaven was also 18 at the time and had made only one senior appearance for the Gunners. He made his United debut a month after joining the club and overall made six appearances in the 2024-25 run-in. United sources do not expect Thompson to go straight into the first team, though. Heaven was named on the bench in the first game he was available for against Leicester City in the FA Cup. Heaven could start the season for United at Hull City on August 22 after Lisandro Martinez sustained an apparent thigh injury that forced him off in the first half of the World Cup final. Most read in Sport United also signed 18-year-old Sekou Kone on deadline day in August 2024 for £1m. The Mali midfielder has failed to progress and joined the Ineos-owned FC Lausanne-Sport on loan last season. Thompson has also represented England Under 18s. Comment now
