The bizarre discovery triggered a debate over passengers’ civic sense on public transportation. The video was shared by X user Subhajit Das, who shared a video of the man cleaning out the vent after opening its grill. In the video, the man was seen using a screwdriver to unscrew the grill covering the AC vent. As he pulled it open, a pile of discarded items was visible inside, including chip wrappers, used tea cups, plastic packets and other pieces of rubbish that had been stuffed into the narrow space. He then used a cloth to clean the vent, pulling out the trash that had accumulated inside. What was meant to allow air to circulate had apparently turned into an dumping spot for passengers. In the caption accompanying the video, Das said passengers often threw their waste into such spaces instead of using dustbins. He argued that people would then complain about poor AC performance without considering that their own actions could have contributed to the problem.Watch the video here: The unusual sight prompted users to share their own experiences of finding rubbish hidden in different parts of trains. Some said they had seen passengers pushing waste under seats or behind fixtures, while others suggested that trains should have more accessible dustbins to make proper disposal easier. One user felt that installing small dustbins could prevent passengers from using spaces such as AC vents as makeshift garbage bins.Another suggested that CCTV cameras might be needed to discourage such behaviour, arguing that some passengers would continue littering unless they knew they were being monitored. The comments section also showed people's frustration over cleanliness on public transport, with users debating whether the responsibility lay with passengers, railway authorities or both.- EndsPublished By: Yashna TalwarPublished On: Aug 11, 2026 20:24 IST
