Man kicks, slaps partner at bus stand over affair suspicion; she dies next day

A 40-year-old woman was beaten to death at the Bhavnagar ST bus stand in Gujarat after a dispute with her 20-year-old live-in partner over suspected affair and drinking alcohol. The assault, which took place on September 3, was captured on CCTV cameras at the bus stand.The victim, identified as Kajalben Baraiya, was attacked by Faisal alias Khatki, with whom she had been living for the past seven years. She was rushed to a hospital after sustaining serious injuries and died during treatment on September 4.Police have registered a murder case against Faisal and arrested him.WHAT HAPPENED AT THE BUS STANDAccording to police, the incident took place between 3 pm and 4 pm on September 3. Faisal got into an argument with Kajalben and her friend Ravi Gohil. Police said Faisal suspected that Kajalben was in a relationship with Ravi. After the argument escalated, he threw Kajalben to the ground and kicked and punched her, causing serious injuries to her head and other vital parts of the body.Ravi, who witnessed the assault, tried to intervene but was also beaten and injured. The incident was captured by CCTV cameras installed at the Bhavnagar ST bus stand. The footage shows people in the vicinity watching the assault as it unfolded.However, Ravi, who was both an eyewitness and a victim in the incident, told police that the dispute was over drinking alcohol.KAJALBEN AND FAISAL HAD LIVED TOGETHER FOR 7 YEARSPolice said Kajalben and Faisal had been living together for around seven years and were staying on the footpath in the ST bus stand area.According to City DySP R.R. Singhal, the two frequently quarrelled. Faisal had earlier been jailed in connection with another crime. After he was released, he learnt that Kajalben had a relationship with his friend Ravi.This reportedly led to the confrontation between the three on September 3.Police said Faisal seriously assaulted Kajalben during the argument and also attacked Ravi.WOMAN DIES DURING TREATMENTAfter the assault, Kajalben was taken to a hospital. She died during treatment on September 4.Following the incident, a police team reached the spot. Police questioned Ravi, who had sustained injuries in the assault.The police took Kajalben's body into custody and completed the post-mortem and other legal procedures.FAISAL ARRESTED IN MURDER CASEBased on a complaint filed by Kajalben's mother, police registered a murder case against Faisal and arrested him.DySP R.R.
