A man jumped from a window to escape a blaze in Finsbury Park on Thursday evening. Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were called to a fire at a takeaway restaurant on Seven Sisters Road in Finsbury Park at around 4pm on Bonfire Night. The second floor flat above the mid-terraced restaurant - understood to be the Shish Shack - and the roof were both damaged by the blaze. One man jumped from the first floor before the Brigade arrived. He has since been treated on scene for minor injuries by the London Ambulance Service and taken to hospital. Around eight others were evacuated from the building. Emerging footage on social media shows large flames ripping through the second floor, while grey plumes of smoke rise from the top of the building. The fire was under control by 8.25pm. Station Commander Adam Lawson was at the scene. He said: "Local residents were advised to keep their windows and doors closed."There was very heavy traffic and motorists and pedestrians should avoid the area. The Seven Sisters Road is closed between Holloway Road and Finsbury Park station."The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
