Man in 30s left fighting for life after serious assault at London Underground station – as man arrested

A MAN is fighting for his life after being seriously assaulted at a busy London Underground station. A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the “violent” attack at Liverpool Street station, Central London. Cops were scrambled to the Central Line at around 10.50pm on Sunday. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, aged in his 30s, on the platform with “life-threatening” head injuries. He remains in a critical condition following the attack, British Transport Police (BTP) said. An investigation was quickly launched and officers yesterday arrested a suspect in East London, the force added. The man is currently being held in police custody. BTP Detective Superintendent Sam Blackburn has urged anyone who was on the platform at the time of the assault to get in touch. He said: “This is a key step in our investigation, which continues to progress at pace. Most read in The Sun “Based on our enquiries to date, we are not seeking to identify anyone else in connection with this incident. “Our thoughts remain the victim and his family at this difficult time. They are being supported by specialist officers. “We are still keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened and has not yet spoken to police. “If you were on the Central Line platforms between 10.30pm and 11pm and have information, please come forward.”
