Man from Jharkhand held under POSCO Act

The All-Women Police, Ambattur, on Thursday arrested a 40-year-old man from Jharkhand under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl.The case came to light after the girl’s 35-year-old father lodged a complaint on Tuesday. In his complaint, he alleged that the accused sexually assaulted his daughter when she was returning home from the mosque. He sought action against the accused.Based on the complaint, the police summoned the accused, identified as Mohammed Rafiq, alias Sarphool Dewan, a native of Jharkhand.
