Man fighting for life after car ploughs through front garden as driver arrested

A passenger, a man in his 20s, suffered catastrophic injuries in the smash. He was rushed to hospital where he remains in a critical condition. He was later released on bail following questioning. Following the crash, a stretch of the road was shut for several hours while officers recovered the wrecked Volkswagen and carried out investigations. The force is now appealing for anyone who saw the blue Volkswagen T-Roc being driven before the collision to come forward. Most read in The Sun A spokeswoman for North East Ambulance Service said crews were called shortly after 5am to reports of “a car in collision with a house”. Three ambulance crews, a doctor, a hazardous area response team and a paramedic were sent to the scene. The seriously injured passenger was treated at the scene before being rushed to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. The spokeswoman said: “One unconscious patient was taken to the RVI in Newcastle after treatment from the doctor and paramedics for chest and pelvic injuries. “Two other patients refused assessment from our crews and were taken to hospital by the police.” Northumbria Police said officers are now trying to establish exactly what happened in the moments before the crash.
