Man dead and three others in hospital after explosion that ‘sounded like a bomb’ at industrial unit

A MAN has been killed and three others injured in a devastating blast on an industrial estate. Police responded to reports of a “suspected explosion” on Brunel Road in Bedford on Thursday afternoon. A statement said: “One man died at the scene and three others have been taken to hospital to receive medical treatment.” Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! One concerned resident said: “It sounded like a bomb going off.” “Did sound like an explosion of some sort, followed by the sound of lots of debris falling,” another added. Officers are now expected to remain at the scene until the investigation is handed over to the Health and Safety Executive. In the meantime, an initial cordon which was set up has been removed. All roads surrounding the incident have also been reopened. People have been asked to refrain from speculating about the incident on social media, out of respect for those involved.
