Reports in Senegal on Monday suggested the Gunners were now ready to hijack his move to their North London rivals. The Gunners are well-known to be on the lookout for a top left-winger and have cleared £85m worth of talent in Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira. But now City are ready to throw their hat in the ring having seen their pursuit of Liverpool’s Gakpo fail. Ndiaye will have to make up his mind fast, too. The transfer window slams shut on Tuesday September 1 at 11pm. City have turned to Ndiaye after seeing an £80m bid for Gakpo rejected by Liverpool, who do not want to sell without a replacement through the door. Everton have the winger under contract until 2029, but his desire to play Champions League football means they are open to doing business.
