City are poised to sell midfielder Tijjani Reijnders to Saudi Arabia for £51m – while Savinho could be moving to Tottenham. That would raise the necessary cash to lodge a bid for Fernandez but City believe Chelsea are trying to force the midfielder out – and are still demanding the maximum amount of money for him. There may be a vacancy in the midfield at the Etihad with Barcelona preparing a third bid for Spain World Cup winner Rodri. He is now back at City having flown to the North West from Spain last night – but will not feature in this weekend’s Community Shield against Arsenal. Maresca worked with him in his previous spell at the club and he said: “First of all window is open we can buy players we can sell players. “I just saw Rodri, I gave him a big hug. The Etihad chief said: “It’s a bit difficult to convince players when they are already convinced. You need to change their thoughts, that is not always easy. “Tijjani’s situation is like James Trafford’s situation.
