Man charged with rape of young woman in Covent Garden

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with the rape of a woman in Covent Garden.The incident took place in Macklin Street in the early hours of Saturday, 22 August when a woman in her 20s was attacked.Christopher Rocha, 22, of Kilburn Lane, Westminster was arrested and charged with rape and intentional strangulation.Police previously said the victim was approached by an unknown man as she walked through the crowded streets of Shaftesbury Avenue, Cambridge Circus and Drury Lane.Police said at around 5.20am, the man dragged her into a doorway in Macklin Street before allegedly raping her.
