A young man allegedly killed a self-proclaimed exorcist by slitting his throat during an exorcism ritual meant to "heal" him at a village in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district.The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Gora Angaria. The accused, 24-year-old Ponde Ram Angaria, fled the scene after the incident.He had reportedly been behaving unusually for the past few days. His family had been arranging rituals and exorcism practices in hopes of helping him recover.On Tuesday night, priest Gora Angaria, along with the village security guard, Mukhi Ram Angaria, and several other villagers, went to Ponde Ram's house for the ritual. While others returned home following the ritual, the exorcist and the guard stayed back. Ponde Ram also went to sleep in the same room.At around 4.30 am, he allegedly attacked a sleeping Gora Angaria with a sharp knife, striking him on the neck repeatedly. Before Mukhi Ram could understand what was happening, the young man allegedly fled the scene. The incident was reported to the police. A large number of villagers gathered outside the house in the morning.Police took custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. Raids are being conducted at possible locations to trace the accused.The exact motive behind the killing could not be established immediately.
