NewsUK News A MAN has been arrested after two women were allegedly sexually assaulted at a popular music festival. A man reportedly touched the two women inappropriately at On the Waterfront music festival held at the Pier Head in Liverpool. The flagship festival hosts 40,000 attendees and this year’s headliners included Snow Patrol, Red Rum Club and Paul Weller. The incidents took place between 9.30pm and 10pm on Thursday 18 June and a 59-year-old man was arrested at the scene. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! He has since been released on bail as police make further enquiries. Merseyside Police have urged the two victims and any other witnesses to come forward. Detective Inspector Jemma Berry said: “Although our officers made an arrest at the event we are continuing with our enquiries into the incident, and I would appeal to anyone with information to come forward. “As such, we are appealing for the two victims of the sexual assault to please contact us as a matter of urgency. “In addition as it was a busy event with thousands of people attending the music festival, we also ask for people who witnessed the incident to please also contact us. “I would like to reassure the public that incidents such as this are rare, and we are taking this incident extremely seriously.” Most read in The Sun Anyone with information can contact the force on social media, through its website or be calling 101 with reference 26000487162. On the Waterfront is said to be a “flagship music event” which has “quickly become a staple in Liverpool’s cultural calendar,” according to the festival’s website.
