Man, 53, charged with drink driving after boy, 3, hit by car just yards from beach at UK caravan holiday park

A MAN has been charged with drink driving after a three-year-old boy was hit by a car just yards away from a beach at a caravan park. The tot was hit by the vehicle at Freshwater Beach Holiday Park in Burton Bradstock, Dorset, at around 9.20pm on Friday. The toddler was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital and his next of kin were informed. Cops arrested Purna Chhetri, 53, at the scene, who has now been charged with driving while above the legal alcohol limit. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! The boy remains in hospital and is being treated for injuries that are now believed to be serious but not life threatening. Chhetri, of Aldershot, Hants, is due to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Friday, October 2. Police are continuing to probe any other possible alleged offences. A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “The injured boy remains in hospital being treated for injuries that are believed to be serious but not life-threatening. “A 53-year-old man from Aldershot in Hampshire has been charged with driving a motor vehicle when his alcohol level was above the legal limit.
