Man, 30s, abducted, beaten with iron bars & thrown from moving car in ‘brutal’ Tyrone attack as cops launch major probe

NewsIrish News Credit: Google Streetview POLICE believe that a man was abducted, beaten with iron bars and thrown from a moving car in a “brutal” attack in Co Tyrone. The victim, a man in his 30s, suffered multiple fractures during the horrific incident, which took place in the Gortin area on Sunday. The PSNI believe multiple people were involved in the assault. Detective Inspector Winters, from the Omagh Criminal Investigations Department, said: “It was reported that the man, aged in his 30s, was found lying on the Culvacullion Road at around 9.35pm. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! “He had sustained a number of limb fractures, rib fractures and a head injury. “At this stage of our investigation, we believe that he may have been abducted, assaulted by multiple people armed with iron bars and then thrown from a moving car.” A car in flames was found on the Rylagh Road, about a 25 minute drive from where the victim was found, shortly after the horrific attack. Det Insp Winters said: “We are keeping an open mind, but one line of enquiry is that this vehicle may have been used by those who carried out this assault. “This brutal attack will have left the victim with lasting physical and psychological trauma. “There is no justification for this violence.” Most read in The Sun The PSNI urged anyone who may have witnessed the shock attack to come forward and assist in the investigation.
