On Thursday, Crimmins and Tyler were in Apple Valley trimming trees in the area, according to court documents. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! They had been working for a “few hours” at the time with a boom attached to their truck – a piece of equipment that lowers and moves heavy loads. Crimmins claims he was on top of the boom as Tyler was standing on the ground and cleaning up branches. At one point, Crimmins allegedly started “f*****g around” by moving the boom so that it started casting shadows which appeared to show Tyler being grappled. The suspect allegedly tried to make it “appear as though the shadow of the hydraulic grapple was grabbing the shadow of the victim”, court documents say. Crimmins “was not looking at the victim nor the grapple, and did not see that the grapple was moving towards the victim’s head” the statement continues.” He then closed the grapple and “crushed” Tyler’s head, it is alleged. Most read in The Sun A horrified witness reportedly said they saw the grapple “come over towards the victim and either hit or pinch” Tyler’s head. The move caused “significant injury and trauma to his head”, the documents say. Police rushed to the scene and found Tyler on the ground with a “significant amount of blood” around him. He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The document said there was blood on the grapple that was directly above the victim. Crimmins was arrested and booked into the Dakota County Jail. His bail was set at £30,000 “without conditions”. The suspect is next due in court on September 10.
