Man, 22, charged after two cyclists killed and another injured when car crashed into riders in UK village

A MAN has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after two cyclists were killed and another was injured in a horror car crash. Three riders were struck by a white Ford Focus during the smash near Gravesend, Kent, early on Sunday morning. Emergency crews were scrambled to Sole Street in Cobham shortly after 7.45am. The Ford had been travelling toward Meopham when it struck three cyclists, Kent Police said. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! Two riders – a man in his 60s and a woman in her 50s, were tragically declared dead by paramedics. A third cyclist was rushed to hospital with minor injuries, while two men and a woman were arrested at the scene. Officers investigating the fatal smash have since charged Aaron Turner, 22, with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving. Turner, from nearby Higham, is also charged with failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision and possession of a class C drug. He was remanded into custody and will appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court today. A 21-year-old man and 19-year-old woman who were arrested have since been released on bail. In a statement, Kent Police said: “Officers investigating a double fatal collision in Cobham near Gravesend have charged a man. “At 7.47am on Sunday 6 September 2026, a white Ford Focus was involved in a collision with three cyclists. “Emergency services attended the scene near the junction with Round Street where two of the riders were confirmed to be deceased. “Their next of kin have been informed. The third cyclist was taken to a local hospital for treatment to injuries described as minor. “Aaron Turner, 22, from Hermitage Road, Higham has since been charged with 2 counts of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision and possession of a class C drug.”
