Man, 19, charged with murder after teen, 18, dies in horror crash between motorbike and van outside pub

COPS have charged a teenager with murder following the death of an 18-year-old motorcyclist in a collision outside a pub. Connor Todd, 19, is set to appear before Margate Magistrates’ Court on July 28 in connection with the fatal crash in Chestfield Road, near Whitstable, Kent. The horror incident happened on Chestfield Road in front of the Chestfield Barn pub shortly before 8.15pm on Friday Credit: BPM The biker died at the scene just after 8.15pm on Friday. While his next of kin have been informed, he has not been formally identified yet. An off-duty doctor and nurse were among those who came to the aid of the injured rider and CPR was performed until a team of paramedics arrived. A defibrillator was also brought from the Chestfield Golf Club nearby. Police and ambulance crews continued resuscitation attempts, but the teenager could not be revived. At around 9.50pm on Friday, an 18-year-old man voluntarily attended Canterbury police station and was arrested in connection with the investigation. He has since been released on bail. Most read in The Sun Todd, of Seasalter, attended the same police station the following day, where he was arrested before later being charged with murder. Detectives are continuing their investigation and have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage showing either vehicle before or after the incident to come forward. Meanwhile, tributes have been left at the scene. Flowers, candles and handwritten messages have been placed along the roadside outside the pub. Cans of energy drinks, a bottle of Jack Daniel’s and Coke and a vape have also been placed beside a nearby tree in his memory.
