The Malaysian Association of Qatar [MAQ] brought members of the Malaysian community together for a five-kilometre walkathon at Doha Festival City on Friday morning, as the country prepares to mark Independence Day on 31 August.Malaysia’s Ambassador to Qatar Faizal Razali attended, joining families and communitymembers as wider National Month celebrations commenced. The gathering also centred on the spirit of “Merdeka”, a Malay word meaning independence or freedom, and on “Ukhuwah”, referring to bonds of solidarity and fellowship.The Embassy of Malaysia in Qatar will keep the celebration running through September.
