Makeshift ‘shank’, bloodthirsty stab ‘threats’ & boiling water ‘attack’ – Southport killer’s terrifying reign in prison

LOCKED in his cell at one of Britain’s highest security prisons, Southport monster Axel Rudakubana had not lost his thirst for violence. For staff working in Belmarsh, every interaction with the killer was fraught with danger – not least because of his vows to allegedly “stab them up” whenever they entered his cell. The child murderer was allegedly found with a makeshift “shank” and put a guard in hospital after allegedly hurling boiling water at them during his terrifying spell behind bars at the Category A jail in South East London. Rudakubana has now been charged with a string of assaults and is due to appear in court next month. He is currently serving a 52-year sentence for the murder of Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie-Dot Stancombe, seven, at the Taylor Swift-themed class in Southport in July 2024. But evil child killer Rudakubana will not be phased by the latest charges, according to a source. They said: “It is right that he has been charged over incidents at Belmarsh – but in reality this means nothing to him. “He was accused of threatening to attack staff numerous times and saying things like, ‘I’m going to stab you up when you open my door’. “And he was a known ‘spitter’ which is classed as an assault in jail – that was one of the things he did. “But Rudakubana is serving a 52-year sentence and is never coming out so a short sentence for attacking a guard won’t have a huge impact on him. “All the offences took place inside the prison so would be on CCTV and if he is convicted a concurrent sentence would be quite likely.” Rudakubana has been specifically charged with two counts of assault, one of attempted GBH and one of possession of an offensive weapon. The attempted GBH charge is linked to the attack where he allegedly poured scalding water over an officer after boiling a kettle in his cell last May. We revealed that incident – on May 8, 2025 – the day after it happened. Rudakubana, 19, is also accused of assaulting an emergency worker two days earlier – May 6 – and possession of an offensive weapon found last June. He has been charged with a further assault on an emergency worker last October. The Sun understands that charge relates to him spitting at prison officers – something he was known for in Belmarsh. The fiend was charged with the four offences days after being moved to Broadmoor Hospital, Berkshire, where he will be treated as a patient. The source added: “But the timing of this is pretty questionable. “He has been moved to Broadmoor so that gives him his defence.” London’s Met Police charged Rudakubana with the offences on Tuesday – a day before the second anniversary of his horrific attack at a Southport dance class on July 29, 2024. He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court via videolink on Friday, September 11. The switch could cost the taxpayer £13 million and Rudakubana will face a much softer regime at Broadmoor, which had a £250 million revamp in 2019 and looks like a posh health club. Rudakubana – who also injured eight other children and two adults in the horror attack in Southport – was moved after assessments by medics and psychologists over more than a year. Victims’ families were informed about the charges before they were made public by London’s Met Police yesterday. Met Police statement A Met Police spokesperson said: “A man has been charged with multiple assaults on prison staff at HMP Belmarsh. “Axel Rudakubana, 19, has been charged with the following: Assault on an emergency worker on Tuesday, 6 May, 2025 Attempted grievous bodily harm on Thursday, 8 May, 2025 Unauthorised possession of an offensive weapon in prison on Thursday, 26 June, 2025 Assault on an emergency worker on Tuesday, 28 October, 2025 “He was charged on Tuesday, 28 July, and will appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court via videolink on Friday, 11 September.”
