A MAJOR supermarket is offering customers up to 8p off a litre of fuel – but you’ll need to be quick. Tesco shoppers who spend £60 in store will get a coupon that will save them 5% off the cost of filling their fuel tank. You’ll need to have made a purchase in store before August 16 and redeem the coupon at one of Tesco’s 500 branded forecourts before August 23. The deal would save a shopper with a 60-litre family car up to £4.80. Sign up for the Money newsletter Thank you! The maximum discount you can claim is £10 and you need to spend at least £1 on fuel to get it. To use the coupon you will need to print it and present it at the kiosk. You can’t claim it via Pay at Pump, unmanned petrol stations or at Tesco Express stores selling Esso fuel. The news comes after the RAC warned that fuel prices are “shooting up like a rocket” as oil prices have soared due to rising tension in the Middle East. It said petrol prices are inching back towards 160p a litre, while diesel is close behind at 180p a litre. Oil prices have climbed above $100 a barrel for the first time since May. Most read in Money Tesco UK CEO, Ashwin Prasad, said: “At Tesco, we are always looking at how we can deliver great value for our customers, and the extra ways we can help them make even more savings this summer. “We hope this extra saving at the pumps will make life a little easier for families, just in time for the summer holidays and those all-important beach trips and getaways.” Comment now
