Major UK airport throws open doors to its first ever Wetherspoons – as price of a pint is revealed

A MAJOR UK airport opened the doors to its first ever Wetherspoons today. Those heading to the airport early can grab a bleary-eyed pint as the new boozer is serving customers “from first to last flight“. The Belle Vue, named after a historic local zoological garden, is part of a major refurbishment of the terminal that has taken place over the past decade and has created 150 new jobs at the airport. The Belle Vue is also serving up pub classics, including Wiltshire cured ham, eggs and chips for £14.05 and freshly battered fish and chips which costs £17.75 – the most expensive item on the menu. Other big ticket items include gourmet burgers such as The Big Smoke, The Ultimate Burger and the Sweetwave – an airport exclusive of fried buttermilk chicken, maple-cured bacon, American-style cheese and a hot honey drizzle – all for £16.95. There are also four airport exclusive focaccias: Club; Burrata and prosciutto; Burrata, Mediterranean vegetable and hot honey and Wiltshire cured ham and cheese. The Club comes in at £12.45 while the other three are all available for £11.85. Most read in Money Side dishes include a selection of six onion rings (£3.65) or a bowl of chips (£4.95), while smaller plates feature chicken nuggets (£9.60), chicken tenders (£9.60) or airport exclusive nachos (£9.95). The new boozer has a large selection of drinks, including lager, beer, stout, real ale, cider, wine, prosecco and cocktails. Those looking to settle down with a pre-flight pint can grab a San Miguel (£6.80), Stella Artois (£6.60), Corona Extra (£6.60), BrewDog Punk IPA (£6.90) or a Guinness (£6.60). If you’re looking to get in the holiday spirit cocktails start at £6.99 for a Mimosa, or £7.05 for a Classic Pimm’s, while Spritzes including Aperol, Limoncello and Hugo will set you back £10.45. Fizzy soft drinks start at £2.99, including Pepsi Max, and while fruit juice comes in at £2.95, a J20 will cost you £3.10. For little ones, there is a kids menu serving up pizzas for £5.50 or bigger plates including ham and egg or sausages for £5.80. All kids meals include a drink, with the option to choose from a banana, strawberry Bear Yoyo fruit snack or apple bag. Comment now
