Major change to Celebrations, Heroes AND Roses tubs this Christmas – and shoppers will be furious

Celebrations, Heroes and Roses have made a huge change to tubs ahead of Christmas – and choc lovers will be in for a shock. According to The Grocer, tubs of Roses, Heroes and Celebrations have reduced by up to 14 per cent from 2025, despite prices remaining at an all-time high. Sign up for the Money newsletter Thank you! Shoppers can now expect to pay a pre-promotional price of £7 in Tesco and Morrisons for a 550g tub of Heroes and Roses. This means a 15.8 per cent price increase per kg compared to the previous year. Pack sizes have also been subject to shrinkflation – in Tesco the majority of Roses and Heroes tubs on offer weigh just 475g, rather than the previous standard of 550g. And, although these chocolates are currently on a Clubcard promotion for £5.25, last year the larger pack cost just 70p more – at £5.95. As for Celebrations, supermarkets have stopped selling the 550g tub altogether, instead replacing it with a 500g version. This means fewer treats can be packed into these festive staples – without arousing suspicions from eagle-eyed shoppers. Most read in Money However, customers have noticed the change, with complaints year-on-year regarding the changing quality, fewer chocolates and rising prices for the tubs. One customer argued each year brought “smaller tubs, fewer chocolates but greatly increased prices”, while another said “Cadbury has obviously cut the quality as well as the weight”. In 2009, Celebrations weighed in at a hefty 975g, which has been steadily reduced to just 500g this year. Mondelez and Tesco have been approached for a comment. Comment now
