A MAJOR car manufacturer has recalled thousands more cars, months after pulling over a million from roads over fire hazards. The motoring giant, which owns dozens of car brands such as Fiat, Vauxhall, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler and Peugeot, has conducted another huge recall linked to safety. The affected cars are models from across the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram brands, with the issue causing the rear-view cameras to work incorrectly. Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! The fault may prevent the cameras from displaying images correctly while drivers are reversing, Stellantis said in a statement. The majority of cars are being pulled from North American roads, with 848,000 being recalled in the United States and a further 83,000 in Canada. Meanwhile, 8,000 Stelantis cars are being taken in from Mexico, with 15,000 more impacted worldwide. While Stellantis has not identified any incidents or injuries caused by the fault, the recall is being conducted amid fears the defected cameras could cause crashes. The vehicles impacted by the issue are all 2026 and 2027 year models, with a wide range of brands and ranges included. The Chrysler Pacifica, Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid and Voyager are being pulled, along with the Dodge Charger. Most read in Motors The recall also includes the Jeep Cherokee, Compass, Gladiator, Grand Cherokee, Grand Wagoneer and Wrangler. The safety concerns come just months after Stellantis was forced to recall 1.3million cars over fears they could overheat and catch fire. The global fire hazard warning, issued in June, applied to Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator vehicles, on those made between 2021 and 2025. Owners of the Jeeps at risk were warned that the cars could burst into flames, even when parked, because of faulty wiring in electric hydraulic power steering pumps. At the time, Stellantis told The Sun: “An internal investigation determined that certain model-year 2021-2025 Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator vehicles may have an electrical connection issue in the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring. In rare circumstances, this may cause combustible materials to overheat, potentially leading to a vehicle fire. “As a precautionary measure, Stellantis is taking this action and advising owners of these vehicles to park away from structures or other vehicles until the remedy is obtained,” the spokesperson added.
