Major British restaurant chain warns diners have just days left to cash in on loyalty points ahead of 195 closures

CUSTOMERS have been warned they have just days left to make the most of a particular restaurant’s loyalty scheme. The food chain is set to shut over 100 of its branches in coming weeks as part of a full-scale closure announced earlier this year. The planned closure of the 106 Beefeater locations will mean job losses for thousands, with Whitbread confirming that 3,800 roles are set to be cut. Sign up for the Money newsletter Thank you! With all Beefeater sites ready to shut up shop after a final day of serving on September 10, fans of the eatery don’t have long to use up their loyalty points. A spokesperson for the brand confirmed that customers have until August 24 to claim any benefits earned through the Beefeater loyalty card scheme. The Beefeater Grill Reward Club allowed visitors to collect points every time they bought food and drink in order to get discounts and exclusive offers. Customers could collect five points per every £1 spent at Beefeater, with 500 points nabbing them freebies. Food vouchers worth £5 plus free starters, desserts and bottles of wine are up for grabs with racked up points, but only until next week. In a statement, Beefeater said: “All points must be collected (or receipt details added) by Monday 24 August 2026 and then converted into your points-based vouchers and used by Monday 31 August 2026.” Most read in Money In an announcement to customers, the company confirmed that all of its locations will shut for good next month. “As you may have seen, we have recently announced changes to our business, which is resulting in the closure of our Branded Restaurants,” Beefeater said in an email sent to Grill Reward Club members. “This means that on Thursday 10 September 2026 your local Beefeater and all other UK Beefeaters will close.” Whitbread has also announced the closure of all of its Brewers Fayre sites, too, with 89 set for closure on September 7. The mass closure will see 195 Whitbread restaurants close all together. Whitbread has plans to flip many Beefeater pubs to fit the new focus on their overnight hospitality brands, with many set to become new Premier Inn hotels or extensions of existing sites. Any Beefeaters that do not fit with the new hotel-first strategy will be sold – and some have already been snapped up to become new Wetherspoons pubs. Comment now
