Mahananda Express derails soon after departure in Bihar, 2 wheels come off tracks

A major rail accident was averted after two wheels of the Sikkim Mahananda Express derailed shortly after the train left Arrah railway station in Bihar on Sunday morning. No passenger was injured in the incident.Train number 15483, which was travelling towards Delhi, departed from platform number 2 at around 4.10 am. As it moved beyond the platform, passengers heard a loud noise and felt a strong jolt.Several passengers were asleep at the time and panic briefly spread through the coaches. They later learnt that two wheels of the train had come off the tracks.The train was moving at a controlled speed, which helped prevent a major accident, passengers said. The cause of the derailment was not immediately known. Railway officials are examining whether a technical problem with the track, the train or another factor led to the incident.TRAIN SERVICES DISRUPTEDThe derailment disrupted train movement on the up line for around two-and-a-half to three hours.
