A MAJOR motorway has been closed following a vehicle fire and huge fuel spillage as drivers are stuck in long delays. The M25 is shut anticlockwise between Junction 9 and Junction 8 near Leatherhead, Surrey. National Highways said traffic has been released past the scene but all four lanes remain closed. A spokesperson said: “Traffic has been released past scene on the M25 anticlockwise between J9 to J8 following an earlier vehicle fire and resultant spillage. “Lane 1 and 2 are closed whilst lane 3 and 4 are closed for service providers to assess the road damages.” The agency said in an earlier statement on X: “Traffic is being held on the M25 anticlockwise between J9 to J8 near Leatherhead due to a vehicle fire. “Emergency services are leading at scene.
