A MAJOR UK motorway has been closed for recovery works after a lorry crashed and overturned, as drivers are left stuck in miles of traffic. The M1 northbound remains closed today between Junction 16 Northampton and Junction 18 Crick, after a horror smash yesterday. Emergency services were scrambled to the scene shortly after a lorry crashed and overturned on the road at around 10pm last night. The busy motorway was closed as crews worked at the chaotic scene with a full collision investigation completed overnight. National Highways officers remain at the site of the crash and are assisting with traffic management. Current closures are likely to remain in place until later in the day as “complex recovery work” and potential emergency resurfacing get underway.
