M&S cookies are incredibly popular with shoppers (Picture: Courtney Pochin) Twice this week I went into M&S to buy some cookies but left empty-handed. The only thing I could find on the bakery shelves? Fruit Granola Squares, which, let’s be honest, just don’t hit the spot in quite the same way. And I’m not the only one who’s been struggling to get their cookie fix. Numerous shoppers have taken to TikTok to share a look at empty shelves in the bakery section, or shelves filled with only the Granola Squares. The milk chocolate, white chocolate, and triple chocolate cookies are nowhere to be seen, and as a result, some say they’re having ‘withdrawals’. In one clip by @jodieparkhouse, a shopper looks disappointed as they walk through an M&S Foodhall. The caption reads: ‘Third M&S we’ve been to and none of them have the white chocolate cookies.’ Similarly, @Freyalucy posted: ‘POV: You’ve been craving M&S cookies, and you walk in to this.’ I’ll give you one guess as to what she found… While @jordz_flynn took to TikTok to proclaim a ‘cookie shortage’. He said: ‘I’ve just been to M&S to get a cookie and there’s no white chocolate cookies left, apparently there’s a shortage in the UK, which is a disaster. So I had to go to Tesco.’ Fellow social media user, @ronkealeem, thought the situation was ‘heartbreaking’, writing: ‘Equivalent to heartbreak tbh, especially going there in this weather, walking through the storms only to see oat and raisin cookies left.’ ‘Please bring back the chocolate button cookies as well, I’m in withdrawal,’ @ashgia_ begged. And @layla_twinmummyplusone5 wanted answers, asking: ‘When are you going to have the cookies back in stock? There’s none anywhere!’ The milk chocolate, white chocolate, and triple chocolate cookies have been selling out incredibly fast (Picture: M&S) Others had been to several stores and had no luck finding what they were after. ‘I went to FIVE BRANCHES and couldn’t find the triple chocolate ones,’ @ryansloving revealed, as @karenlovesyou12 admitted: ‘Happened to me today. Devastated was an understatement.’ A few people took to the comments to say there have been ‘supply issues’ and staff are ‘struggling’ to keep up with customer demand for the cookies. So, Metro asked M&S to confirm what’s really going on. A spokesperson told us: ‘Our freshly baked cookies are a firm favourite with M&S customers, so it’s no surprise they can get snapped up quickly. ‘They’re baked fresh in our in-store bakeries every day, with our teams working hard to keep up with customer demand.’ New Chocolate & Cornflake Cookies will arrive on November 4 (Picture: M&S) They went on to say that a brand new bombshell will be hitting the bakery section next week, as Chocolate & Cornflake cookies are added to the range. ‘Mark your diaries! On November 4, we’re excited to launch our new Chocolate & Cornflake Cookies, a delicious addition that we’re sure will be a huge hit with customers, and excitement is already building across social media.’ And they’re not wrong; people are going wild for the new cookie ahead of the launch. ‘I fear these are going to be the best ones yet,’ commented @lucykatefrances on Instagram. While @neoini joked: ‘I will be barricade at the bakery counter for these.’ And @pollyb18 replied: ‘We’ll be queueing at the door!!! These sound EPIC.’ ‘Take my money now,’ @nathansinkinson demanded, as @d1shogsd asked: ‘Can I pre-order 20?’ Which cookie flavour is your favourite? This comes after M&S cookie lovers were dealt a blow, as the retailer confirmed that the popular Peppermint Bark cookies wouldn’t be making a comeback this Christmas. The seasonal treat flew off the shelves last year, but is being replaced by the Chocolate & Cornflake option for 2026. For those unfamiliar with it, the axed cookie featured a rich chocolate base with dark and white chocolate chunks, mint candy pieces, and peppermint oil.
