It’s teamed up with London streetwear label Aries to create a 26-piece line-up that you need to know about. Aries was founded by Sofia Prantera in 2012 and has become a big deal in the world of streetwear; the brand is best known for its gothic lettering, religious imagery and cheeky slogans across its t-shirts, tracksuits and slip dresses. For this limited-edition collab, M&S gave her access to the ol’ archive, and the collection focuses on reviving St Michael, a clothing label that M&S retired years ago but has built a small, cult following on resale sites like Vinted, Depop and eBay. How gorgeous is this suit!? (Picture: Metro/Marks & Spencer) According to M&S, it’s seen demand for vintage St Michael pieces grow among fashion obsessives on social media, so it made the smart move to bring it back with creative help from Prantera. That’s why, across the M&S x Aries range of knitwear, suited tailoring, tops, trousers, and everything in between, you’ll see details like the St Michael crest and its angel motif, plus Penny Bazaar imagery that pays homage to the retailer’s market-stall origins in 1884. You can also expect to find items like nighties reworked into slip dresses, which can be layered over jeans and under jumpers, pinstripe designs, graphic T-shirts, and even a matching cardigan-and-briefs set, in cashmere, silk and jersey fabrics. This dress is utterly beautiful. (Picture: Metro/Marks & Spencer) There are some accessories too, including a green leather handbag for £90, that’s the exact shape of the M&S green carrier bag. Prices start from as little as a tenner for a pair of socks, all the way up to £120 for a silk dress – but it’s still much cheaper than shopping from Aries’, whose pieces can cost well over £200 a pop. Prices are properly high-street: think £10 for socks or underwear, £25 for a T-shirt, up to £120 for a silk dress – a deliberate choice, given Aries pieces normally command much loftier price tags. That top is going straight into our basket. (Picture: Metro/Marks & Spencer) Ask Metro Use AI to go deeper into the stories you care about – powered by Metro and trusted publications.
