Bengaluru City Police arrested two people for allegedly stealing luxury cars using duplicate keys and selling them in Rajasthan. A stolen Rs 35-lakh Toyota Fortuner was recovered from Barmer. Police have recovered a Toyota Fortuner worth Rs 35 lakh in Rajasthan’s Barmer region.The case came to light after a Chennai resident reported that his Toyota Fortuner was stolen from a hotel parking area in Singasandra on June 27.He had arrived in Bengaluru the previous day for a weekend trip and had parked the vehicle after returning from a movie around 1.30 am.During the investigation, police traced the accused to the Belagavi-Pune National Highway near Karad on July 4. While the prime accused managed to escape with the stolen car, his female associate was arrested.During interrogation, she confessed that the duo had been stealing expensive cars to make quick money. A special team later arrested the prime accused near Silk Board on July 17.Police said he used duplicate keys made with sophisticated equipment to unlock luxury vehicles and allegedly sold them to acquaintances in Barmer, Balotra and other desert areas of Rajasthan.Based on his information, the stolen Toyota Fortuner was recovered on July 24 from Aleti, under Dhorimana Police Station limits in Rajasthan.
