Luke Littler immediately switching sports after World Matchplay Darts for ‘only TV title he might not win this year’

LUKE LITTLER’S mission to win all major TV titles this year could be KO’d by how he handles a FISHING ROD. The Nuke has won all FIVE premier events in 2026, lifting the PDC World Championship for the second time, plus the World Masters, UK Open, Premier League and World Cup of Darts with England pal Luke Humphries. He is hot favourite to lift the Betfred World Matchplay in Blackpool on Sunday. Yet next Tuesday – just two days after the conclusion to the Winter Garden event – Littler will participate in the Target Sports Stars Fishing Championship for the third year running. The UK’s biggest annual charity fishing gala will be held at the Tunnel Barn Farm lake in Warwickshire and will be broadcast next month on ITV4. We’re eternally grateful for Luke turning up, especially straight after the Matchplay. “But he’s been in it for the last three years, so he must enjoy it. It is significantly more difficult for Luke. “It’s not his natural habitat on the lakes. But he’s one of the best-known sports stars in England. He takes time out to appear in this event. We’re so grateful. “It’s very difficult on that lake because there are 32 anglers out there. Everyone is as competitive as each other. All egomaniacs, all desperate to win. “It doesn’t always turn out to be the best anglers that win it. “Rugby player Ellis Genge fished a few years back. And it is unlikely he will catch 180 fish across the four-hour competition. But as was evident in last year’s Netflix series ‘Matchroom: The Greatest Showmen’, Littler has caught the bug for angling.
