Lubinets Rejects Sky News Report of Russian Troop Regrouping During Ceasefire

Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets has disputed a Sky News report suggesting Russian forces used a recent ceasefire to regroup, saying military vehicles seen in the footage were deployed for demining operations. Speaking at a briefing attended by a Kyiv Post correspondent, Lubinets said the vehicles were marked with crosses, as required under the ceasefire agreement, and were used exclusively to clear mines.JOIN US ON TELEGRAMFollow our coverage of the war on the @Kyivpost_official. “The military equipment was moved for the purpose of demining – marked with crosses, as stipulated in the agreement,” Lubinets said. He added that the vehicles returned immediately after the demining work was completed. Lubinets said Ukrainian and Russian representatives had both monitored compliance with the agreement and confirmed that the equipment was used for demining. He also said the parties had agreed to check compliance every two hours and remained in contact throughout the ceasefire. “There were no violations during the first 24 hours, and this remained the case throughout the entire period,” Lubinets said. According to the ombudsman, he held a final meeting with representatives of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and the Russian side shortly before the ceasefire ended. No violations were recorded, he said.
