MANILA, Philippines — A rider who assaulted another motorist in a viral road rage incident in Marikina City has been summoned by the Land Transportation Office (LTO), the agency said on Tuesday. Citing a police report, the LTO said that the suspect allegedly shouted at another motorcycle rider which led to a heated confrontation. The agency also noted that the altercation resulted in physical injuries and damage to the vehicle of the victim. Article continues after this advertisement READ: 178 vehicle dealers summoned by LTO over various violations The LTO issued a show cause order (SCO) to the rider suspect to appear in a hearing on Friday, July 24 and submit a verified explanation or comment on why his driver’s license should not be suspended or revoked for being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle. The agency also said that his driver’s license is placed under preventive suspension for 90 days while the investigation is ongoing with his license ordered to be surrendered during the hearing. In addition, his motorcycle is also under alarm status. “Failure on your part to attend/submit your Comment/Explanation shall be considered as a waiver of your right to attend/submit the same and this Office shall proceed and complete the investigation in its absence. You may opt to be assisted by a counsel during the investigation,” a part of the SCO read.
