Love story ‘confirmed’ in Coronation Street for Bethany and Ryan as romance blossoms

| Freelance Soaps Reporter Published September 7, 2026 11:59pm Are we stanning #ryany? (Picture: Danielle Baguley/ITV) Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) and Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) are hardly having a ball in Coronation Street, are they? Bethany’s mum and Kit’s now-ex, Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien), was recently arrested for offing vile beast Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), and has since had a pretty awful time trying to navigate prison life. It turns out, orange really isn’t the new Platt. While Bethany and Kit have been trying to hold things together on the outside, Kit has been deeply distracted by his health, while going on a few dates with the clinically creepy Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown), all while Bethany’s attempts at dating Roman (Frankie Bolton) were scuppered by her burgeoning feud with said creepy Jodie. Things took a much more complicated turn, however, when Kit wound up in bed with his ex-fiancée’s daughter, shortly after he received a terrifying diagnosis: he has stage three breast cancer. Kit made it clear to Bethany: he didn’t want to talk about what happened, and she really needs to stop texting and calling him about it, dismissing her while still trying to deal with the enormous battle he’s facing with his health. Bethany has made an enemy of Jodie (Picture: Danielle Baguley/ITV) As for Bethany, her focus is pulled away from the incredibly ill-advised night she spent with her mum’s ex-fella, with Jodie going all-in on making her life as difficult as possible after hearing something incriminating. As viewers know, when Jodie decides she’s going to make somebody suffer, she doesn’t do it by half measures! After winding Bethany up over a manicure, Jodie taunts her with a visit to Sarah at the prison later, slyly remarking that she has something important to tell her, but when Bethany confronts Jodie later, they’re interrupted by the arrival of Jodie’s dad, Doug Ramsey (Steve Evets). With Jodie seemingly distracted, Bethany can breathe again, and Kit continues to suffer in silence, confiding only in Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce). Bethany is forced to give Sarah some awkward news (Picture: Danielle Baguley/ITV) Bethany finds herself back under pressure next week, though, when she finds Kit entertaining another woman and lays into him, before being forced to tell her mum that Kit has moved on, all while choking on her own guilt. After having organised a manicure for Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) the previous week, Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) proves to be a source of support for Bethany, especially when she’s burned by Carla Connor-Swain’s (Alison King) decision to replace Sarah at work. Sensing the growing feeling between them, Kit pushes Bethany to pursue things with Ryan and she does so, agreeing to meet him for drinks later. As Ryan puts a wide smile on Bethany’s face, she’s left wondering whether or not she should make a move, but will she?
