Representatives of the lorry owners’ associations from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana submitted a representation to Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar in Hyderabad on Saturday, urging him to resolve the long-pending matter of issuing counter-signature permits for goods transport vehicles operating between the two States.The representatives said the issue had remained unresolved since the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, causing difficulties for lorry owners in both States. They urged the Transport Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to hold discussions and coordinate efforts to find an early solution.Resolving the issue, which had been pending for nearly 12 years, would provide considerable relief for lorry owners and facilitate the smooth movement of goods between the two States, they said.The representatives said the Mr. Prabhakar had responded positively to their appeal. They also urged the government to take the initiative to address the concerns of the transport sector and ensure seamless movement of goods across the inter-State border.Those who participated in the meeting included Andhra Pradesh Lorry Owners’ Association general secretary Y.V. Eswara Rao, Krishna District Lorry Owners’ Association general secretary A.V.V. Satyanarayana and secretary Ravi Sarat Babu, Telangana Lorry Owners’ Association chairman Ramineni Srinivas and general secretary Gummadi Durga Prasad, along with association members Ganesh Yadav, Chand Saab and Mohammed Akbar Hasan, among others.
