Lorraine Kelly's show pulled off air over major issue as she says 'it's a shame'

Lorraine Kelly has told viewers her ITV programme will not be broadcast today after a power cut hit her studio.Filming herself in the back of a car, she said: “Hello there. I’m on my way to work but there’s been a little bit of a hoohah. There’s a power outage at the studio, so my show won’t be on today, but you can still watch GMB.“They are going to fix it around 11 o’clock-ish, so This Morning will still be on as well, just a little bit later.”Kelly - who took a seven-week break from her show earlier this year due to illness - added: “It’s a bit of a shame. I was really looking forward to talking to Sharleen Spiteri from (the band) Texas. We shall reschedule, and it’ll all be fine, and I will see you tomorrow. OK, bye.”The programme was pulled from the ITV schedule after a “power outage”. While Lorraine is off air, This Morning and Loose Women are airing pre-recorded segments.Lorraine Kelly’s show was pulled off air due to a power outage ITVSpiteri, a Scottish singer, had been due to appear on the show to promote the band’s new single, Another Way To Cry, as well as their 30th anniversary tour.“These things happen. Can’t be helped. See you tomorrow,” Kelly also captioned her post.A spokesperson for ITV said in a statement: “Following a power cut overnight in the wider area where our Covent Garden studio is based, we are unable to broadcast Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women live today. We will return to our normal schedule as soon as possible.”This Morning is currently on air, with a message on screen alerting viewers: “This programme is pre-recorded.”The outage was also confirmed on Good Morning Britain, where host Susanna Reid told viewers that while they would “normally find out what Lorraine’s got in store”, that would not be happening on Wednesday’s episode.“An event has occurred,” her co-host Ed Balls said.“Lorraine is not on air today. But we’re here until 10 o’clock,” Reid added.GMB was extended for an extra 30 minutes, after which the presenter joked that she hoped the production team “have got plenty to fill the space”.Read MoreKelly has fronted her eponymous programme since 2010. Her earlier presenting credits include GMB, GMTV, This Morning and Daybreak. The disruption comes in a year when ITV announced a number of scheduling changes, including cutting Kelly’s morning programme from one hour to 30 minutes and airing it for 30 weeks out of 52 from 2026.On weeks when the show is not on air, Good Morning Britain runs for an extra half-hour, from 6am to 10am.Speaking to the Press Association, Kelly previously said: “My show is now only 30 weeks a year, and it’s only half an hour now, and so I’ve got much more time.“It’s actually worked out really well, because the balance now that I have is really doable.”Kelly, who is also a writer, said the changes had given her more time to write, and she recently published her second novel, The Island Secret, a sequel to her 2024 debut, The Island Swimmer.
