Lorenzo Senni Returns With First Album in Six Years

“Art Life & Skateboarding” leads the producer’s Warp comeback All Ages, which features Xiu Xiu’s Jamie StewartPhoto by Jim C NeddLorenzo Senni is back, lining up his first album in six years, All Ages, for longtime label Warp. The puckish Italian producer adopted a spirit of “internal revolt” for the Scacco Matto follow-up, out November 20. Listen to a single, “Art Life & Skateboarding,” below. The new song represents opposing poles of bacchanalia through the medium of two featured artists: Chad Muska, a skateboarder who loves to party, and Jamie Thomas, a skateboarder who is straight-edge. “They have opposite characteristics within something I love, skateboarding,” Senni says in a press release. “It makes for a beautiful encounter.” Xiu Xiu’s Jamie Stewart features on a song called “La Persuasione e la Rettorica.” The guest vocals on the LP are the first in Senni’s discography.Senni goes on to explain how his love of hardcore informed the new LP. “In electronic music, there is a lot of modulation in between parts, like a teasing, but in hardcore, it’s three drumstick strikes on a snare, or a strum of a bassline, and then you’re straight into it, you know? The lights in the room are on. Everything is visible and everyone commits to the action quickly.”Senni is also preparing for a string of festival dates in the coming weeks, including slots at C2C in Turin and Unsound’s flagship Poland festival as well as its London edition in November. All Ages:01 Art Life & Skateboarding [ft.
