When The Rings of Power debuted in 2022, it kicked off with a two-episode premiere on September 1, followed by one new episode being released each week for the rest of the eight-episode season. With three-episode premieres becoming increasingly common for Prime Video shows, season 2 had a three-episode premiere on August 29, 2024 and then had weekly episode drops through October 3. Prime Video has now announced that The Rings of Power season 3 will release episodes 1-4 on November 11, followed by episodes 5 and 6 on November 18, and episodes 7 and 8 on November 25. The announcement was made on social media via an image featuring Sauron (Charlie Vickers) and a Balrog. Check out the image below: Credit: Prime Video The Rings of Power season 3 release schedule is a significant shift from its predecessors and will make it the fastest season yet. While they all contain eight episodes, seasons 1 and 2 released new installments over the course of more than a month. Season 3 will be over in less than a month and half the season will be available to watch on the November 11 premiere date. The change in release strategy will come as welcome news to those who prefer binge-watching and less so to those who prefer weekly drops. In the previous seasons, many episodes were around an hour long, and if this is the case for season 3 as well, the four-episode premiere will be around four hours long in total. The Rings of Power season 2 ended with the Stranger (Daniel Weyman) confirmed to be Gandalf, Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) and the Elves gathering in the valley that will become Rivendell, Sauron gaining possession of the Nine Rings of Men, Elendil (Lloyd Owen) acquiring the sword known as Narsil, and Prince Durin IV (Owain Arthur) becoming the new king after the sacrifice of his father, King Durin III (Peter Mullan). These developments will be followed by The Rings of Power season 3's time jump, which is five years after the conclusion of season 2. This may partly answer why Prime Video is choosing to release episodes 1-4 all at once. Due to the time jump, many changes will have occurred since viewers last saw the characters, including "the Elves and Sauron being at the peak of their war" according to series co-creator and showrunner J.D. Payne. More to come... Release Date September 1, 2022 Network Amazon Prime Video Showrunner John D. Payne, Patrick McKay, Louise Hooper, Charlotte Brändström, Wayne Yip Directors J.A.
