Speaking on her podcast How To Be 60 with Kaye Adams, she said: “We were interviewing Mark Steel and he was talking about his throat cancer diagnosis… “And as is very typical of me whenever I meet somebody who’s got a condition I decide that I’ve got it as well and so I did on that occasion and I was feeling about my neck and I thought I could feel something.” Kaye explained how she showed her nurse pal the lump and she urged her to go and get it checked properly. She said: “They did a scan and all the while I was thinking ‘No I was overreacting, don’t take me seriously’ but they did take me seriously.” Kaye then turned to her co-host, Karen MacKenzie, and confessed: “And I just thought f**king both of us are gonna be diagnosed with cancer. I just thought it was written in the horrible stars.” Most read in TV Kaye shared a snap from her hospital bed Credit: Instagram/kayeadamsofficial Telly star Kaye opened up on her surgery during an episode of the How to 60 podcast Credit: Instagram/kayeadamsofficial The mum-of-two then told how her lump was biopsied before doctors told her they didn’t know what was in there. “I’ll just leave it,” said Kaye at the time. she continued: “I just didn’t want to face it… I was constantly looking up thyroid cancer and I was like well if I’ve got thyroid cancer it’s not the worst cancer to have all that stuff that goes through you’re head. “They kept tabs on me, I did a scan again this year and they said ‘Look we better take this out.'” Kaye had the lump removed last week and showed fans her scar, which is “healing well”, over on Instagram. In the caption of the podcast clip, Kaye wrote: “Last week I finally had half my thyroid removed, and it’s all clear.” Kaye was one of the original anchors for Loose Women and she presented the very first episode back in September 1999.
