London weather warning as rush-hour commuters face 'certain' rain

Morning rush-hour commuters are facing a washout on Tuesday with rain predicted to sweep the capital.Multiple forecasters, including the Met Office and BBC Weather, are predicting rain for London on Tuesday morning.As of 10.30am on Monday, BBC Weather put the likelihood of rain over rush hour at 100%.Temperatures are expected to plunge with AccuWeather predicting a high of 19C.That's a sharp contrast with the 28C peak over London on Sunday as heatwave conditions briefly returned to the capital. The warm weather is continuing on Monday with 25C expected this afternoon, according to the Met Office. After Tuesday's washout, more settled weather is expected in London with largely dry days through to the weekend and temperature peaks of between 20C and 23C.The outlook after that looks reasonably good for London. The Met Office's long-range forecast predicts "a trend toward some longer dry interludes between systems as we head toward mid-September", although a return of the dry, settled weather of the summer "looks unlikely".Temperatures are expected to be "close to average overall".Looking towards the end of September and into October, the Met Office predicts "a continuation of more settled conditions", before "more changeable" weather develops."Temperatures will likely be a little above average overall, with relatively cool nights possible at first tending to reduce in frequency later in the period," it says.
