Lloyd says Hawks win Merrett trade

Matthew Lloyd, a former Essendon player, believes Hawthorn has come out ahead in the trade for Zach Merrett, a key midfielder. Lloyd's assessment highlights the perceived value Hawthorn placed on Merrett, suggesting they might have offered more than Essendon anticipated. This trade could reshape Hawthorn's midfield, potentially enhancing their performance, while Essendon may face challenges in rebuilding their midfield depth. The trade's implications extend beyond immediate team dynamics, reflecting broader trends in player valuation and team strategies in the AFL.
