The newest NCIS show brings Hanna back to New York City after serving in the Office of Special Projects in Los Angeles. The character was first introduced in the NCIS flagship series, setting him up to be one of the main characters in the NCIS: Los Angeles spinoff, and he has also appeared in NCIS: Hawai'i. Back in his hometown, he has now teamed up with a "roguish" partner, Nick Schaeffer (Scott Caan). The NCIS: New York season 1 teaser trailer opens with narration describing Hanna's extensive history in the field that "writes his own ticket." This is followed by shots of him "being out in the wild" as he slams an individual against the wall and punches them. Hanna and Schaeffer quickly develop a comfortable banter between them before they bust down doors and fire their weapons.
