Lives of Coronation Street icons change forever in a day like no other

| Freelance Soaps Reporter Published November 2, 2026 11:59pm It’s a night of tough home truths and shocking revelations (Picture: ITV) Tissues at the ready, Coronation Street fans. A special Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) episode is coming your way… and nothing will ever be the same again. Debbie is one of the most colourful characters on the Cobbles. Tragically, every episode reminds us that we’re enjoying her for the last time. Her battle with vascular dementia has grown increasingly worse, to the point that it’s impacting her marriage to Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan). It’s reached the point that he is scared to be intimate with Debbie, because her memory lapses and bouts of confusion mean that she can no longer give consent. While Ronnie has sought comfort in a support group, Debbie ended up pouring her soul out to a stranger in the Hotel, despairing that her hubbie no longer finds her attractive. Ronnie and Debbie have never been further apart (Picture: ITV) With her confidence at rock bottom, Debbie searched for an ego boost by confiding in a stranger that her husband no longer fancies her…. only for Ronnie to catch her in the act. This led to a heartbroken Ronnie to confess in the heat of the moment that this Debbie isn’t the Debbie he fell for. Debbie needs a miracle. Fortunately, she’s got Debbie’s angels. Her girl squad of menopausal northern badasses, Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove), Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins), Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger) and Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor). Calling on the Angels, Debbie tells the girls that she’d like their help with a project she’s working on and invites them round for a catch up. In next week’s trip to the Cobbles, we’ll see what that project is in a special episode focusing on Debbie and her friends, where they work together on a surprise for Carl (Jonathan Howard) . Debbie empties a plastic crate onto the carpet to reveal hundreds of photographs taken over the years and explains that she needs their help to make a photo book for Carl’s 40th birthday. But what starts as a fun bonding experience quickly descends into chaos as past tensions surface among the women. Amidst the heated confrontations regarding family history and past trauma, the group struggles to keep the celebration afloat. While some find solace in confiding in one another about their own personal burdens, others face difficult decisions about their futures. By the end of the evening the air is cleared, and the women unite to move forward, though several of them are left to navigate significant, life-altering choices in private. The Angels have problems of their own. While Bernie is coming to terms with the fact she carries the BRCA gene, Christina and Sally are both struggling to care for traumatised teenager Lucy (Anya Dewin).
