Sadio Mane has launched a fruitful new career… with the Liverpool icon setting up a MANGO business. Mane has now invested £15million in a project dubbed SM10 Agro that will benefit his Senegalese home town Bambali. Sign up for the Football newsletter Thank you! It will create 1,000 jobs, and involve mango orchards, processing plants and an agricultural college. Mane announced: “The Sedhiou region loses 30 to 40 per cent of the mangoes it grows, because of failures to store and process them properly. “I want the wealth of our soil to remain here with us in Senegal. This initiative will employ 1,000 people from the outset. “Processing plants will be set up at Bambali, and one will specialise in making mango butter. “There will also be a 500-hectare mango plantation, and an agricultural college will be established. “I want the young people and women of my region to have real opportunities for education. Most read in Sport BEST ONLINE CASINOS – TOP SITES IN THE UK Mane with the African Cup of Nations trophy before the decision was later reversed Credit: AFP “Transport and delivery services for SM10 Agro will indirectly create extra jobs as well.” SM10 Agro deputy director Aminata Tope added: “We will plant 78,000 mango trees, with the first harvest expected in three years. “The college will also have a centre for research and development, and the factory will be able to produce 10,500 tons in output per year.” Mangoes are plentiful in west Africa, and their aromatic flesh is used to make drinks, desserts and chutneys as well as cosmetics. Mane scored 120 goals in 269 Liverpool appearances before Bayern paid £35m for him in 2022. He also helped the Reds win the FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup. The winger previously impressed during two seasons at Southampton after arriving from Red Bull Salzburg in 2014. Comment now
